Call for a postdoctoral fellowship in computational drug design at the University of Antwerp (Belgium)

The UAMC group at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position with starting date of September 1, 2022. The duration is 15 months.

The main objective of this postdoctoral position is the application of alchemical non-equilibrium free energy calculation methods for drug design. The project is in close collaboration with the pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson (located in Beerse, Belgium) and with the group of Prof. Erik Lindahl of the KTH in Sweden (main developers of Gromacs).

Your profile:

The successful candidate has a keen interest and strong skills in computational molecular physics, structural biology, statistical mechanics, scientific computing, a strong interest in interdisciplinary research and collaboration with industrial and academic groups. Hands-on experience with Gromacs is a real asset. You hold a PhD or equivalent degree in any of these or a related field.

What we offer:

  • We offer a full-time appointment as a postdoctoral scholarship holder for a period of 15 months.
  • The starting date is September 1, 2022.
  • Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the scholarship amounts for postdoctoral scholarship holders on the pay scales for Contract Research Staff (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP) (see https://www.uantwerpen.be/nl/jobs/wat-bieden-wij/#1088217")
  • You will receive ecocheques, internet-connectivity allowance and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
  • You will do most of your work at the Campus Drie Eiken in a green, dynamic and stimulating working environment.
