Product Designer Covers

For our innovation and design center in Waregem (& Beselare) we are currently looking for a (m/f/x):

JOB CONTENT

You will take part in a variety of tasks within the design department:

COVER DESIGN

• You are responsible for developing cover designs and concepts for BekaertDeslee in close collaboration with R&D and the Cover Solutions teams,
• You translate trends into cover designs within the BD Global collection, based on each region’s trends and budgets,
• You make cover concept presentations for Global collection,
• You make custom-made digital concepts combining fabrics with cover designs, considering the requirements of the customer as well as any technical limitations,
• You present digital concepts to the customer and work with them during the prototyping process to achieve the ideal cover design,
• You work with the fabric and cover R&D team on new fabric constructions that serve the cover market,
• You will ensure that the technical specifications of the fabrics meet the requirements of the cover design,
• You make the cut sheets from the designed cover in collaboration with the Engineering Responsible,
• You will take care of the cover follow-up from the time when the project is established until cover evaluation to see if it accomplishes the initial cover design,
• You will consider sustainability initiatives for your cover designs,
• Participating in Cover discussions about new developments and innovations.

TEXTILE DESIGN

• You will develop designs for customer requests and BD Global collection,
• You will learn about new fabric settings and build up technical knowhow in collaboration with the R&D team.

GENERAL

• You stay in touch with the latest trends on colors, aesthetics, consumer behavior and products, to be able to provide insights to our customers on what is driving the market, and to design products that are driven by these trends,

• You will report to the Group Design Manager.

PROFILE

• Degree in arts, textiles, fashion or product design
• Experience in a design job is a plus
• A keen interest in technical knowledge of knit and woven textiles
• Good knowledge of pattern making, cut&sew technics
• Good sense of colors & styling
• Good knowledge of Adobe CC (Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) & Microsoft Office
• Interest in mattress market and follow up on customer feedback
• Knowledge of knitted and woven fabrics is a plus
• Knowledge about circular economy, Product life cycle and an interest in sustainability is a plus
• Team player & positive attitude
• Artistic and dynamic, result driven
• Problem resolution focused, judgement and decision-making skills
• Good spoken and written English knowledge
