The KU LEUVEN Centre for IT & IP Law (CiTiP) is a research unit of the Faculty of Law established with the mission to develop legal knowledge in the fields of ICT, digital media and intellectual property. The Centre has a structural relationship with imec (research group on security & privacy) and is member of both the Leuven Centre on ICT (LICT) and Leuven.AI. CiTiP has more than thirty years experience in research into legal and ethical aspects of innovative information and communication technologies, privacy and security, intellectual property and emerging technologies, in both the public and private sectors. The Centre currently consists of approx. eighty full-time researchers involved in interdisciplinary projects financed through programs such as H2020, Horizon Europe, Marie Curie, FWO and ICON as well as through bilateral contracts. The research group actually consists of 6 professors, 1 research expert, 1 valorisation manager, 1 research coordinator and 3 administrative collaborators, 8 postdoctoral researchers, 60 researchers and 19 affiliated researchers. For more information regarding the Centre, please refer to the website. The rapid technological evolutions in various sectors, such as government, transport, media and culture, health care, the digital economy, banking, etc., are constantly challenging the current legal framework. CiTiP is conducting research into legal and ethical challenges within the following six research lines: 1. Artificial intelligence and autonomous systems 2. Privacy and data protection 3. The data-economy and the management of data 4. (Cyber)security 5. Media and communication platforms 6. eHealth and Human enhancement CiTiP offers top research in each of these domains, but also in future domains that will emerge in the rapidly changing landscape of IT Law. The centre specializes in multidisciplinary research at European and national level, with more than 65 ongoing research projects. The majority of this research is financed under the European research program H2020. At Flemish level, CiTiP is part of the Knowledge Centre Data and Society (https://www.data-en-maatschappij.ai/) and of the strategic research program Cybersecurity Initiative Flanders (https://cybersecurity-research.be/). In view of the recent expansive growth of the research group, the ZAP members of CiTiP need a second research expert who can assist them in the development of specific expertise, notably in the area of cybersecurity, the quality control of the ongoing research, and the supervision of junior researchers. The research expert will ensure the stability and continuity of the ongoing research in relation to cybersecurity, as well as the further development of research in this research line. The research expert will participate in the management of the Centre, and report to the head of the research centre (Prof. Dr. Marie-Christine Janssens) and the PI of the Cybersecurity Initiative Flanders (Prof. Dr. Peggy Valcke).
