We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Scientist to join our world-class research team in Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium, where you will play a crucial role in driving scientific advancements and breakthroughs in the field of healthcare.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Technical & Operational

As a Research Scientist, you will supply to the technical feasibility analysis of complex research and design concepts, and independently plan and implement a series of design and/or technical tasks with multiple variables and advanced techniques within negotiated deadlines. You will lead analytical method development feasibility and evaluation, validation, or transfer of methods according to study protocol, and interpret experimental data to present conclusions to management. You will also review and ensure deviations are documented correctly, write comprehensive protocols and reports in English, and lead method transfer activities and support receiving sites. Additionally, your role will be to enforce to quality system requirements, GMP, GDP, and EHS guidelines, collaborate with global teams across varying functions to maintain business continuity, and contribute to efforts beyond your own scope to ensure project achievements are met. You will operate current physical, chemical, and physicochemical techniques in accordance with GLP and local procedures, and critically review experimental data to ensure compliance with analytical methods, global and local procedures, and scientific correctness.

  • Leadership & mentorship

We need you to support the Analytical Lead in defining commitments and planning analytical activities for different sites to ensure project milestones are met. This includes analytical method development, evaluation, validation, document issuance You will make decisions on analytical projects independently based on previous experience and provide routine decisions independently Additionally, you will play a lead role in evaluating, selecting, and adapting various techniques to accomplish business objectives such as quality and cycle-time. You will contribute to the preparation of the strategy and budget linked to analytical activities and anticipate and communicate possible delays. Moreover, you will routinely provide advice and assistance to junior analytical team members and participate actively in analytical team meetings to provide a status on analytical activities You will also evaluate needs and opportunities to externalize part of the work and facilitate project initiation at CRO. Your role will also be to ensure strategic availability of reference standards, reagents, raw materials, and equipment to run testing designs in labs located worldwide.

Furthermore, you will propose innovative approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles and incorporate new methods and technologies for improving existing or new products/processes

What You Will Bring

  • Expert analytical chemist with strong technical knowledge in liquid chromatography and other techniques (GC, UV, titration, Karl Fisher), possessing 10+ years of experience in method development, validation, transfer, and troubleshooting.
  • Skilled at identifying and resolving technical issues with critical thinking and creative problem-solving abilities, adaptable across diverse analytical areas.
  • Independently solves complex problems with a logical and methodical approach, taking ownership and leadership to ensure timely completion.
  • Strong knowledge of regulations and compendial standards, with experience in innovative problem-solving methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma, QbD).
  • Inclusive team player with excellent cross-cultural communication skills, able to operate in certified environments with precision and autonomy.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with a focus on precision and organization
