We are looking for a Senior Communication Manager Europe

About the Role

Aperam is seeking a dynamic Senior Communication Manager to lead and coordinate all communication initiatives for our European Stainless businesses .

This pivotal role will initially focus on developing and implementing communication strategies to our (approx +4000) own employees in Aperam Stainless and Services & Solutions Europe and will gradually take on more responsibilities in external communication towards local stakeholders in France and Belgium.

Reporting to: the Aperam Global Head of Communication in close alignment with the

CEO Aperam Stainless and Services & Solutions Europe as well as intensive cooperation with Human Resources and Unions of the same division.

Location: Belgium preferably or France (with up to 30% travel across European facilities)

• Internal Communication:
  • Drive the necessary cultural change that positions two-way communication as an essential part of leadership and a key lever to mobilise employees around the transformation of our European business. Ensure messages are part of a broader strategic framework agreed with senior leadership and are authentic and provide perspective,
  • Develop and implement tailored communication strategies to reach Aperam employees in Europe, with a strong focus on blue-collar audiences across multiple facilities.
  • Develop compelling easy-to-understand storylines, backed up by facts and figures, to highlight the transformation of each of our European businesses. Strong focus on developing key messages together with senior leadership that are delivered consistently and repeatedly across all employees of a given business.
  • Guide and improve existing local communication practitioners at site level, establishing best practices and fostering collaboration across sites and with the corporate communication team.
  • Coach senior leadership and site management on how to communicate effectively to employees, especially at the shopfloor level.
  • Develop and implement new communication channels that allow for agile real-time messages to be delivered.
    
    
• External Communication:
  
  • Work with key external stakeholders: local journalists, governments, institutions and schools in Belgium and France that are critical in the realisation of Aperam’s transformation in the respective regions.
    
    
  • Manage sensitive and crisis communications with professionalism and discretion.

Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years in communications experience within heavy industry, manufacturing, or related sectors, with proven success engaging blue-collar audiences and unions. Experience in external communication is strongly valued.
  
  
• Languages: Fluent in French and English, knowledge of Dutch is an asset
  
  
• Skills: Excellent content contributor with ability to align simplified key messages with the concerns of the audience from a WIIFM perspective. Strong influencing capabilities and ability to coach senior leaders.
  
  
• Competencies: Innovative, resilient, pragmatic, and comfortable navigating challenging environments.

• Travel: The majority of Travel is in Belgium and France. Limited and very occasional travel to Germany, Luxembourg and Italy.
  
  
• Leadership: Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to lead a small communication team in a matrix organisation structure whereby strong guidance is provided at Europe level but execution is organised at site level.
