The Position

Pfizer Biopharmaceuticals Group focuses on developing and commercializing novel, value-creating medicines.

Within the business unit of Internal Medicine (IM) the medical advisor will work in the Medical Affairs group.

The Medical Advisor – Cardiovascular will be responsible to develop strategic partnerships with key stakeholders both externally and internally. She/he will provide relevant scientific information in response to customer-stated needs in order to maintain a category leadership position. The The Medical Advisor should contribute to and drive the development and implementation of a product strategy as a core member of the cross functional team. She/he delivers medical and scientific advice and support internally and externally to ensure that the interests of both the patient/customer and Pfizer are safeguarded. The Medical Advisor – Cardiovascular will be an important member of the Joint Brand Team with our Alliance partner.

The Medical Advisor Internal Medicine will report directly into the Country Medical Director / Internal Medicine Medical Lead BeLux.

Additional tasks may be delegated e.g. organisation of the XBU Medical Meetings, sign off of promotional materials.

Key responsibilities :

Engage with the external medical community and to communicate data, facts and observations into Pfizer. Up to 50% will be field based engagements, either F2F or virtual:
  • actively develop long term peer-to-peer relationships and interact with external key influencers ( opinion leaders and stakeholders, national advisors on clinical practice, contributors to national guidelines and national formularies, medical societies…) to establish a therapeutic category leadership position.
  • disseminate recent scientific knowledge/data on the relevant portfolio in approved indications
  • provide high quality scientific presentations at internal and external meetings
  • take the lead for national advisory boards
  • organize and lead local medical education implementation
  • prepare a medical plan that reflects the regional and local brand strategy, including key influencer relations plans, in order to support the assigned brand from a medical perspective
  • communicate customer feedback into the Alliance in-country teams and where appropriate into the above-country medical brand teams
Provide a medical affairs contribution to the business :
  • drive brand and asset success and prepare for long term sustainable growth via strong medical participation in cross functional teams to ensure aligned plans. You will be responsible for developing the Medical part of the Operating plan (including budget)
  • provide medical / scientific advice for assigned products to ensure that the commercial objectives of each product are realized, product licenses are maintained and to support Pfizer’s image in the market place whilst legal, regulatory and ethical standards are maintained: advice into / at Strategic, Operating & Tactical plans, Brand team activities, Health and Value dossiers, key meetings of commercial relevance
  • support the Brand Managers in the development of the Business Plan for assigned products
  • collaborate with Health and Value and outcomes research colleagues to develop and write the medical part of reimbursement files for assigned products
  • provide innovative and optimal product/therapy related training for Medical Reps/other internal colleagues for the assigned therapeutic domain
  • ensure promotional compliance by review for medical correctness and compliance with local labelling of locally developed promotional materials for assigned products in accordance with existing internal and external regulations
Identify and meet local market needs, such as:
  • identify real world data needs required for reimbursement in association with Health & Value, develop plans to meet data gaps and develop a publication plan for each data gathering initiative
  • support Clinical Operations in the identification of necessary resources and feasibility of study programs and protocols
  • manage Investigator Initiated Research(IIR’s) grant proposals for assigned products to ensure that adequate records are kept, internal scientific review is done, progress is monitored and the grant study budget agreed and accurately maintained
  • develop scientifically valuable Non-Interventional Studies for assigned products if needed and manage these to ensure that adequate records are kept, progress is monitored and the study budget agreed and accurately maintained
Ensure compliance of adverse event reporting for the assigned products in line with Pfizer Safety obligations.

Keep track with the evolution of legislation, medical and scientific knowledge by following general and expert literature.

Located in Brussels. Not eligible for relocation.

Your Skills
  • Education: Medical Degree, Pharmacist, or Master in (Biomedical) Sciences
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of medical affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Language skills: French, Dutch and English fluent.
  • Other skills:
  • computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet)
  • good analytical, synthesizing and writing skills
  • ability to deal with complex and moving environments
