Job description

As a (Senior) Strategic Buyer, you play a vital role in the selection and management of suppliers and technical partners to contribute to the SABCA business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Build (new) supplier relationships and develop (alternative) sources or solutions
  • Negotiate and manage strategic frame-agreements, taking into account back-to-back requirements from our customers
  • Understand the market and mitigate any potential supply risks, analyse mid and long-term views/market trends
  • Develop know-how and strategies for your category/categories
  • Drive cost reduction and compliance in related categories, make clear recommendations for overall cost improvement and develop strategy to achieve these
  • Manage subcontractors at project level (development and production of components) and at program level (a group of products or projects) and find consensus in case of conflicting interests.
  • Improve tools and processes to increase procurement overall TCO
  • Prepare procurement planning & budgeting related to the commodity
  • Improve procurement KPI’s (quality, lead times, costs)
  • Understand the market and the internal needs
  • Create transparency with regards to the needs and create visibility with regards to spending behavior
  • Guarantee appropriate communication and cooperation with all stakeholders
  • Work closely together with the program, represent procurement in the program meetings
  • Facilitate changes in procurement behavior towards a strategic level

Profile

Education - diploma - experience

  • Master degree in engineering or other technical background
  • Min 5 years experience in procurement/purchasing in a (complex) production environment
