We are looking for a Sustainability Expert for our Insulation division.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

As the Sustainability Expert of our Insulation division, you will be part of the innovation team. You will be the subject matter expert on national and European regulations for the sustainability of plastics in the construction industry. You will be responsible for collecting and managing the information and data we need to further substantiate and implement our sustainability strategy and to show our progress in the Unilin sustainability report and other documents.

• You will stay up to date and report on the market trends and national and European regulations (CPR, WFD, CSS, ...) for the sustainability of plastics in the construction industry. You will do this by actively participating in the industry’s federations and working groups.
• You will gather, summarise and share the necessary knowledge both internally and externally: you will keep all the stakeholders informed on the sustainability requirements and regulations and enable them to actively use this information in their own departments.
• Some of the issues you will be consulted on are:
• The establishment of a sustainability framework for R&D projects
• Supplier assessments based on certain sustainability criteria
• The organisation of sales and marketing communication to customers about sustainability and the solutions Unilin Insulation offers in that regard
  
  
• You will regularly collect, monitor and report sustainability performance data. You will inform the stakeholders of any anomalies and you will help them find solutions to stay on the right track.
• You will participate in life cycle analyses and brainstorm with the parties involved on how they can be optimised.
• You will assess our performance based on various certification schemes and propose improvement projects.
• You will evaluate the product composition in terms of environment and health and follow up on the relevant standards and legislation.
• You will organise the data collection and management for the certification, such as EPD or specific labels like Sundahus, BVB, Basta, ...
• You work with Unilin’s corporate sustainability team to issue reports and align the various Unilin divisions.
  
  

IS IT A MATCH?

• You have a master’s degree in a technical field such as environmental technology, chemistry or related areas, for example a MSc in environmental bioengineering and you can convince us with your affinity for plastics and interest in the construction industry.
• You have at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
• You are curious and eager to learn and have a healthy critical attitude.
• You want to learn about the sustainability legislation and certification specific to plastics in the construction industry. Experience with sustainability label certification processes is a plus.
• You are familiar with life cycle assessment (LCA).
• You are an analytical thinker who knows how to handle data in a structured and accurate way. You also have the necessary agility to approach problems pragmatically.
• You have an enterprising nature: you make active contributions to colleagues and offer solutions. You think outside the box to resolve problems and take initiatives to explore new ideas.
• You are a team player and a good communicator: You find it easy to expand your network, but you also know how to listen to internal stakeholders (sales, marketing, operations, ...) and external stakeholders (customers, the government, experts, ...) to really understand their needs.
• You have an international mindset and a good knowledge of Dutch, English and French.
