We are looking for a Freight Forwarding Specialist to join our dynamic Sea Logistics Export/Import Team. #SeaLogistics

Your Role

The freight Forwarding Specialist is responsible for handling Export and Import shipments as well as Transshipment files from A to Z, from putting together a quotation, to actual transport handling and billing. In your role, you support customers by working out tailor-made transport plans to meet the customer’s requirements as well as providing helpful information, answering questions, and responding to complaints. You are responsible for coordinating transport activities by executing the necessary bookings with our partners, executing the requisite data entry across all KN systems, and generating the required documentation. Additionally, you are to ensure all requirements are met in compliance with rules and regulations governing sea transport and associated national protocols. You are to build and maintain a strong partnership with key carriers and vendors. Additionally, you coordinate the transport and take care of the administration, making sure that all documents and formalities are fulfilled.

Your Responsibilities

  • Handle customers requests and complaints;
  • Handle Export and Import shipments from A to Z, from quoting and planning phase up to final billing;
  • To coordinate with customers, haulers, and carriers;
  • Provide customers with quotes and tailor-made transport solutions;
  • To create files, place bookings, arrange transport, coordinate day-to-day operations while ensuring alignment with shipping instructions and planning and resolving any issues/deviations/conflicts;
  • Inform the customer correctly and in time about the course of the shipment;
  • Follow the course of the shipment from the customer until the port of departure/arrival;
  • Signal or correct mistakes and resolve issues, ambiguities, incompleteness’s that were escalated by employees whether or not in agreement with your direct manager;
  • Monitor the operational performance of carriers and other vendors and escalate/create awareness if performance and commitments are not being delivered. You will initiate and resolve any rate discrepancies and Optimize the operational and administrative processes for more efficiency within your department;
  • Ensure profit maximization while keeping customer’s and KN’s best interest at heart;

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Logistics / Supply Chain Management;
  • Proven experience in Sea Logistics with strong knowledge of FCL handling as a minimum requirement. Experience in handling LCL, Breakbulk, and RoRo shipments are considered a plus;
  • Strong knowledge in Freight Forwarding;
  • Proven experience in customer service;
  • Multitasker and strong organizer;
  • Advanced knowledge on industry-specific guidelines and adherence to regulatory requirements;
  • Ability to communicate persuasively whilst demonstrating adaptability and empathy;
  • Problem-Solving and able to work under pressure;
  • Languages: Native Dutch and very good verbal and written knowledge of English. Good knowledge of additional languages is considered a plus.
