As GL Accountant, you will report to the Group Finance Director Shared Service Center, you will be responsible for the timely, accurate and complete General Ledger Accounts in Belgium.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure all the accounting transactions are recorded timely and accurately with a high standard of supporting documentation.
  • Review the accounting entries performed by other team members (AP, AR, Bank) and performs accounting entries such as accruals, deferrals and reclassifications as needed
  • Are responsible for internal reporting and for the annual audited financial statements
  • Perform analyses regarding the Balance Sheet, including explanations and documentation
  • Ensure that the accounting and tax documentation is updated and maintains the traceability
  • Are responsible for external audits
  • Are responsible for VAT declarations and VAT controls
  • Capable of managing the month end close activities independently
  • Includes adhoc duties as necessary

Your profile

  • Have a degree in accountancy or economics
  • Have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience (accounting experience in an audit, accountancy firm and/or accounting department)
  • Have knowledge of Corporate Income Tax & VAT
  • Are fluent in Dutch and English
  • Are communicative, flexible, not afraid to take initiatives.
  • Are proactive, a team-player and able to work independently.
  • At least 3 years of experience in general accounting
  • Experience SSC experience is a plus
  • Experience in ERPs like AX Dynamics is a plus
  • Actively participate and support of the improving accounting process into the ERP
  • Able to coordinate all activities performed by general ledger team, meeting all deadlines.
  • Advanced MS Excel
  • Customer service oriented (internal and external)
  • Ability to work under pressure and a high degree of ability to define priorities.
  • Oriented to detail and organized.
  • Proactive and with a high sense of teamwork.
