Group Financial Controller

For our client, Robert Half is looking for a Group Financial Controller (m/f/x).

Robert Half is working on an exclusive basis with a European private investment firm that focuses on partnering with long-term oriented management teams, families and corporates seeking to actively grow and build their businesses.
The group for which we are currently working has grown from only operating in the UK in 2019 to a presence in 6 countries as of March 2023. The company is pursuing a number of opportunities to grow further within Europe. To assist with the pace of this growth, they have created a group finance function and are transitioning from the current model where group activity is supported by the UK team.

As Financial Controller, you will play a key role in the group finance team. While you will report to the Group Financial Controller, you will support our Private Equity Investors finance manager on day-to-day management of the Luxembourg accounting, cash flow and reporting activities. You will play a role in the management and further enhancement of the Group’s consolidation, reporting and budgeting tool.
You will partner with fellow finance teams as well as external advisors.

Your responsibilities:

• Support the accounting activities of the Luxembourg group companies, including, not limited to, review of bookkeeping, cash and bank, receivables and payables
• Manage the quarter and year end close processes, including balance sheet and cash flow reviews
• Manage the loan matrix between Luxembourg companies and subsidiary groups
• Act as primary point of contact with the outsourced service provider for the audit of the Luxembourg entities
• Perform the Annual group consolidations, reporting these up to the Group Financial Controller
• Manage the filing of annual accounts and other corporate returns
• Manage cash flows within the Luxembourg entities and support banking relationships
• Support new country integration, including set-up of accounting and reporting structure for Luxembourg parent entities
• Own the Luxembourg entity compliance to the Group’s consolidation, reporting and budgeting tool
• Support simplification of the Group’s structure and subsidiary entities
• Provide timely and accurate information to the Group’s private equity partners and assisting with any queries arising
• Work with the wider finance team to target continuous improvement and further automation of the Group’s financial processes and internal control environment

Your Profile:

• Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with minimum 2 years post qualified experience in a multi-national business
• IFRS consolidation and accounting conversion (from Lux GAAP)
• Excellent analytical skills and an ability to explain complex requirements and processes to others in a coherent way
• Multi-lingual, with minimum business English as first or second language
• Able to drive change and challenge stakeholders in an intuitive, nuanced and diplomatic style
• An ability to communicate at all levels and develop good working relationships, being a trusted internal consultant on technical matters
• Self-starter who can demonstrate initiative, with the ability to prioritise workloads of self and team members
• Be adaptable and flexible
