The Laundry and Household Care categories drive major innovation programs to ensure that the wider EU market capitalises on growth opportunities. These innovation projects require appropriate regulatory support, on claims innovation, advocacy and compliance

The Global Regulatory Affairs team sits within the overall Research and Development function. We pride ourselves on not being defined by our job titles but by the positive impact that we make. Role Purpose

You will set the Home Care EU Regulatory strategy for delivering EU innovation and creation and execution of the EU technical advocacy needs for laundry and household cleaning products (excluding hygiene). With the EU Green Deal, this role is pivotal in shaping the future of the European Regulatory landscape. You will provide regulatory insight and expertise to deliver next generation innovation projects which will positively impact people and the planet.

About The Role
  • Is expert on regulatory developments affecting Home Care Laundry and Household cleaning products namely Detergents Regulation, CLP and REACH and ensures that these developments are incorporated into the European business plans.
  • Works with the applicable Regulatory Authorities as required.
  • Anticipates regulatory challenges for the future, especially in the face of the EU Green Deal, which could drive the external influencing agenda for European business
  • Drives the Unilever agenda in relevant external trade associations and/or coalitions.
All About You

We are looking for the right candidate, ideally with a background in regulatory toxicology, who will have a growth mindset and embrace a challenge with the ability to see things through to the end.

You must have significant experience of the European regulatory requirements that govern the European detergent industry.
  • Minimum BSc, preferable an MS or PhD in Regulatory Toxicology (preferred), Chemistry, Biological Science, Toxicology, Environmental Science, or equivalent.
  • Successful experience of taking new detergent innovations to the European market.
  • Experience of working in an external environment such as Trade Associations or Regulatory Authorities driving a business agenda.
  • Experience of working with third party consultants and suppliers would be a benefit.
  • Experience working within an FMCG environment.
  • Great collaborator with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A quick learner who is not afraid to take the initiative and be proactive to get things done.
  • Be persistent and very much a hands-on-approach to results delivery.
  • Ability to work in an international team.
  • Must be fluent in English.
