Do you have experience in navigating complex regulatory landscapes to ensure compliance and safety in industrial environments?

We are looking for an HSE Engineer to oversee health, safety, and environmental aspects at R&D or manufacturing sites, ensuring compliance through audits, risk assessments, and the development of safety policies and procedures.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly audits and inspections in areas including waste, wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous materials.
  • Complete draft permitting applications as required.
  • Participate in staff and project meetings.
  • Conduct assessments of process areas to ensure environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Perform regular health and safety walkthroughs and audits.
  • Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
  • Develop safety policies, training, and written procedures.
  • Create risk assessments and safe operating procedures for equipment and chemical use, including PPE hazard assessments.
  • Maintain site equipment and chemical inventory.
  • Host or participate in monthly safety committee meetings.
  • Implement corporate business unit plans and conduct annual self-assessments of programs.
  • Review and commission new research equipment and installations.
  • Provide ongoing project updates to management.

Functie-eisen

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience overseeing EHS responsibilities in R&D or manufacturing settings.
  • Required certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Engineering in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Experience with local and regional regulations and their applicability to site operations.
  • Certified to work as a site HSE Officer/Prevention Officer per local regulations.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English.
