The main aim of this internship is to design, at industrial scale, a high temperature packed bed storage systems using industrial waste materials or natural materials and air as the Heat Transfer Fluid. In addition to the CSP sector, other industrial applications will be investigated for the deployment of the demonstrated Thermal Energy Storage concept.

The thermal performance of the packed bed storage system, the suitability of the developed storage materials, their durability as well as the experimental validation of the developed simulation tools will be investigated.
