To strengthen our IT team in the Brussels Area we are looking to fill the position of a IT Data Solutions Engineer, accelerating the use of high quality data as the engine for our digital business transformation.

The healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors were already very data intensive and the global trend of digitization combined with major advancements in life sciences research is bringing even more opportunities for innovation. In that context efficient, secure and performant solutions, services and capabilities are required to enable the wider organization to leverage that data to its full effect.

You like to work in an environment where you can:

  • Make our data flow and enable teams to increase its quality and reusability through technology.
  • Test, try an implement solutions that will strengthen our technology landscape.
  • Continuously broaden your technical skills following best practice, trends and technology
  • Tackle the many different challenges that come with the various types of data one can find in a biopharmaceutical setting
  • Interact with many different external and internal partners, data analysts and AI specialists, security and governance groups

You will contribute by:

  • Analyzing challenges around moving, connecting and exposing data efficiently and securely across the company, our partners and different research environments.
  • Advising on data architecture topics, designing and setting up data stores, lakes and other structures to hold and analyze specific data types and enable their use for our analytics and AI platforms.
  • Take on the operational management of solutions in our global data management and governance toolbox like technical lineage, data cataloguing, master data management, self-service data quality management, metadata modelling… technologies.
  • Design and create pipelines to connect these tools in meaningful ways
  • Define and implement new processes and workflows to continuously improve the overall speed and agility of our data operations. Specially looking for automation options.
  • Contribute to the data engineering efforts for some of our major AI and big data initiatives.

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

  • You have a bachelor or higher degree in computer/data engineering/sciences or informatics
  • You hold hands-on competences in data IT technologies and associated fields like cloud computing, server set-up, networking, IAM… and creating (meta)data pipelines overall
  • You can demonstrate a good understanding of current data management, access management, data governance and engineering challenges and are familiar with common vendor technology in this area
  • You have a first experience in either consulting, data management or technology operations
  • Understanding of the biomedical research, biopharma, regulatory and compliance context are a plus.
  • You are eager to learn and not afraid to build things when delving into new technology
  • You love organizing and can define operating procedures and best practices.
  • You can break down complex problems and structure arguments, options and solutions
  • You are a great communicator, able to work with and influence people with different personalities, expertise and backgrounds
  • You thrive in a fast paced, changing environment, and like to challenge and to be challenged
  • You are relentless in quality, you build trust and confidence
  • You are fluent in English
