CaptureAge is an Xbox partnered game development studio and we are a 100% remote company - being located in the country of offer is not a requirement for this role.As Art Director, you will be leading and supporting our art team towards the delivery of visuals that stay true to the beloved Age of Empires II gaming experience. You will work alongside our existing team, creating an environment where innovation can thrive and feedback is productive and welcomed.
Your responsibilities include:
- Supervise and grow an existing team of creatives developing concept art, 3D in-game assets, key art and UI art
- Define aesthetic vision and standards
- Review art assets for quality and continuity
- Work with internal and external collaborators and establish best practices for coordination and output
- Work with Studio Leadership to define a departmental vision
- Substantial experience in the games industry as a Lead Artist, Art Director, or in a comparable role working with 3D and 2D art assets
- High-level of artistic skill
- Understanding of various aspects of art, especially as it pertains to the games industry
- Experience working in multiple stages of game development production
- Interest in global art & cultural history
- Strong command of the English language (written and spoken)
- Proficiency in standard industry tools, particularly for 3D (e.g. 3DS Maxx, Maya, SketchUp)
- EU or US time zone (UTC-8 to UTC+3) preferred

Compensation
As a remote international company, our compensation is determined by considering competitive market rates, experience, and cost of living.

We are a remote only company with team members in 15+ countries across many time zones.
Hours / Time ManagementWe have a flexible approach to time-management and we believe in giving team members the opportunity to control their own schedules. We’d like to see a world in which work can fit around your life, not the other way around! In practice this generally means a few pre-agreed sync points a week, with the rest of your working time entirely up to you – we do not have mandatory core hours.
