Job Description
  • Vehicle Acquisition: Identifying the organisation’s vehicle needs, coordinating with suppliers and dealerships to purchase or lease vehicles, negotiating prices, and ensuring timely delivery
  • Fleet Maintenance: Developing and implementing a preventive maintenance program to ensure the vehicles are in optimal condition. This includes scheduling regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs, coordinating with service providers, and managing maintenance records.
  • Vehicle Disposal: Planning and executing the disposal of old or surplus vehicles in the fleet through sale or trade-in. This involves assessing the vehicles’ value, marketing them for sale, and coordinating with buyers or dealerships.
  • Fleet Operations: Managing day-to-day fleet operations, including vehicle assignments, driver scheduling, and coordination of vehicle usage. Ensuring the fleet operates efficiently, vehicles are properly utilized, and transportation needs are met
  • Compliance and Regulations: Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards related to fleet operations, licenses, permits, and certifications Staying updated on changes in regulations and implementing necessary adjustments in fleet operations
  • Fleet Performance analysis: Analyzing and monitoring fleet performance metrics, such as fuel consumption, maintenance costs, accident rates, and vehicle utilization
  • Identifying areas for improvement, implementing corrective actions, and generating reports for management
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Developing and managing the fleet budget, tracking expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and optimizing fleet operations to meet budgetary goals. This includes analyzing data, negotiating contracts, and implementing cost reduction initiatives.
  • Fleet Safety: Implementing and enforcing safety policies and procedures, conducting driver training programs, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Promoting safe driving practices to minimize accidents and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Fleet Technology: Keeping abreast of emerging technologies and trends in fleet management, such as telematics, GPS tracking, and fleet management software. Evaluating and implementing technology solutions to streamline fleet operations, improve efficiency, and enhance driver safety
  • Vendor Management: Overseeing relationships with vehicle suppliers, service providers, and other fleet-related vendors. Negotiating pricing, evaluating vendor performance, and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
