Main Responsibilities

Are you looking to secure a career in a public sector environment? We would love to hear from you!

As Certified Agile Coach you will be responsible for:

  • Definition and analysis of the business requirements.
  • Participation or leading functional working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users.
  • Perform a qualitative functional analysis and produce structured documentation (UML diagrams, Use Cases, Mock-ups, BPMN, etc.).
  • Guide a small team implementing specific user features and ensure the agile methodology in place is applied.
  • Contribute to the planning by providing estimation of effort, timescale and resources required for the successful completion of the project.
  • Get mindset in place, so everyone understands why doing Agile (before the what and the how)
  • Self-organisation of agile teams:
  • improve sprint planning/estimation meetings, valuable retrospectives for continuous improvement (and integrate actions in backlog), backlog grooming sessions, daily standups, demos: in ALL teams to become ceremonies that deliver value;
  • translate from AWP objectives into PI objectives by the teams;
  • get focus on team objectives (in line with the MVP) per sprint;
  • get focus of (proxy) product owners and analysts on identifying the MVP and backlog items to delay not adding enough value for it, while identifying the others; refine in stories that are testable and can be released as delivering value in themselves (as less as possible needing other stories to be delivered with them);
  • get focus of team on delivering, prevent big upfront analysis, while guaranteeing a qualitative backlog focused on the (next) MVP and involve team members in preparing and defining analysis and stories (early and regularly); limit ‘work in progress’;
  • create more openness/transparency in teams (welcome feedback = gift to grow, experiment with improvements);
  • improve alignment with/ownership of business;
  • teams getting more self-organised (taking decisions, analyzing impact on others and involving others where external expertise is needed) and less dependent from management;
  • teams becoming more autonomous by developing multi-functionality/T-profiles (now each time again wanting to mingle with resources, or preferring to wait for another team member to deliver his/her part instead of participating in the work); learn to decide in team;
  • making communities work on transversal topics;
  • improve agility (by collaboration, processes, automation) in testing, release management and versioning (devops);
  • integrate ‘operational’ work (mainly production support) in the agile planning;
  • integrate the new ‘back to office’ with off-site working that will remain (100% for most developers).
  • Split between PO and scrum master and tech lead role, based on different concerns; also in production support.
  • Coach scrum masters to become internal Agile coaches of the team.
  • Find solution for teams with major role in operational/transversal support combined with project developments (use Scrumban if possible).
  • Adapt Jira (and Align, Tempo; within constraints at Unit level) and Wiki/Confluence, and implement (selected) valuable metrics for teams.
  • Coach sector management to the new role, being more in support mode and less in command and control mode; redefinition/rebalancing of overloaded Project Manager and Product manager role (too much micromanagement) by more delegation to and collaboration between teams.
  • Investigate shortening of sprints (from 3 to 2 weekly sprints, keeping the sprint demos for IT and business).
  • Extend alignment from teams with business

In return, we offer a friendly, supportive and professional environment that respects your work/life balance and ultimately contributes to the delivery of public services in Belgium and around the world.

  • Fluency in English (written and orally).
  • Experienced in business analysis and gathering user requirements.
