BNP Paribas Factoring is the European market leader in factoring in terms of volumes and geographical coverage. We are a fully-fledged business present in 12 countries, in the majority of which we hold a leading position.

Factoring (also called Commercial Finance) is providing its clients with working capital financing solutions and is offering services to help the clients to mitigate the risks associated with being paid late and the day-to-day administrative costs involved.

Within the Group BNP Paribas, Factoring is a “Filière” steered by the Global Factoring Competence Centre (GFCC) which is based in Brussels & Paris.

Compliance Factoring is composed by a central compliance team for the Factoring Filière as a whole, based in Brussels, and compliance officers or teams dedicated to one or more local Factoring entities.

To strengthen our team within the Factoring Northern Europe (FNE) entities (i.e. Factoring entities in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands and United Kingdom), we are looking for an All-round Compliance Officer (m/f/x)who will cover all compliance domains (i.e. financial sanctions, AML, KYC, professional ethics and protection of client interests …) in one or several FNE entity(ies).

Your future job

As Compliance Officer for the Factoring Northern Europe entities you will, together with the existing FNE Compliance team:

• support the set-up of a consistent, up-to-date and coherent compliance framework, which includes the roll-out of compliance policies, processes and projects across the FNE entities;
• handle (complex) business cases and issue binding or non-binding advices to the local business teams & staff on compliance incidents, sanctions & money laundering alerts, client acceptance, new activities & products, personal notifications, …
• contribute to the risk assessment process for the entities and follow up on mitigation plans;
• follow-up on the effectivity of the control set-up and support investigations (regulatory, internal investigations and audit);
• prepare reports and meeting materials, maintain and contribute to compliance training and awareness campaigns;
• set the tone to develop a strong compliance culture within the factoring entities;
• drive continuous improvement, efficiency and quality in the compliance function and compliance processes in the entities;
• be the compliance contact person of the management, business representatives and internal stakeholders in the factoring entities;
• work closely with the local Compliance Officers in the different entities and the Compliance Factoring Filière team.
  
  

You will report to the Head of Compliance in Factor Belgium.

Your strenghts

• Master degree (preferably in Law, Finance or Economy) or comparable knowledge by experience;
• Knowledge of factoring and/or trade finance and/or working capital products is a plus;
• Good capacity to analyse procedures and other documents, to interpret and “translate” them to a business environment;
• Independent, well organized and flexible in order to deal a.o. with strict deadlines imposed by the Compliance Function;
• Persuasive towards local management, business representatives and all staff on the respect and implementation of compliance rules and requirements;
• Fluent in English and preferably also in Dutch. You can express yourself easily, both orally and in writing, in French. Knowledge of German and/or Danish is a nice to have;
• Interested in working in an international environment and ready to travel abroad (short periods only);
