Data Scientist - Social Research
Kantar Public - Belgium

Kantar Public’s research teams are experts in public policy, service design, behavioral insight and election research, employing over 500 people around the world. Our clients span all continents and include both national and local governments and supra-national organisations such as the European Institutions but also World bank and the UN.
In this role you will be part of the Brussels team of Kantar Public. We are looking for a Social Data Scientist to join our team, where we help European institutions to make the right decisions and improve people’s lives. We create a better future through data, analytics, research and evaluation.
Purpose of the role:
- Merge data coming from different sources together and produce statistical analysis
- Support sampling & research methods of the projects led by our colleagues in the UK
- Support the management of our probability based panels from a project management and content perspective
- Support the implementation of research project that require high quality data collection
- Contribute to bid writing
Capabilities:
- Master’s degree in social sciences, statistics, or a related field or clear evidence of a strong, relevant track record in a research agency.
- You have 1 or 2 years of experience working as a data scientist in social research
- You have a keen interest in public opinion and the European Union
- Substantial experience in quantitative survey methodology and using statistical techniques for analysing data from complex surveys (data analysis, modelisation), preferably in a commercial work environment (though this is not essential)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially written.
- You are fluent in English. Other EU languages would be ideal but not required

- Ability to work in a research team and support the management of multi-country projects
- Experience of managing of multiple tasks and priorities and delivering to time
- Meets individual deadlines, flagging potential issues to the project manager
- Social Research / Data Science skills
- Keen interest in public opinion research
- Keen interest in public policy across a variety of social policy areas at the European Union level
- Good understanding of quantitative research methods (random probabilities, sampling)
- Able to write code and use SPSS
- Very proficient with Excel (pivot table & dynamic charts)
