POSITION GOAL

Assist physician(s) in Clinics. Perform all patient care activities for cast and trauma-related post-op care.

Position Responsibilities
  • Escort patients from waiting area to cast room for analysis of their needs for treatment
  • Remove and apply casts, both fiberglass and plaster and other appliances as required
  • Assist in fracture reductions and minor surgical procedures
  • Remove sutures, staples, and apply bandages
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment
  • Stock and maintain cast room and work space
  • Triage cast patients with problems in absence of physician if necessary
  • Knowledge of fracture care coding along with CPT and ICD-10 codes
  • Ability to fill in as a medical assistant when necessary
  • Assist with supply/DME ordering, inventory activities, receiving etc…responsible to assist in maintaining appropriate inventory levels at all times.
  • Obtaining authorization for custom braces and all DME prescribed for worker’s compensation patients.
  • Reviewing DME receipts to ensure billing of items on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for patient care activities such as determining proper DME sizing, and fitting items when needed.
  • Work DME hold buckets in workflow dashboard in Athena throughout the day.
  • Ensure DME orders and procedure documentation is complete prior to issuing DME.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Experience: One year in accredited orthopaedic specialist training program or 2 years prior casting experience required.

Education:High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Special Qualifications: Must be able to work independently and have working knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
