EU Financial Controller

The challenge in a few words:

You’re the one controlling our European financial activities with locations in Belgium, Netherlands and Poland and being supported by Corporate Finance located in Montreal, Canada.

You will have formal financial operational responsibility and will take the lead in finance operations (closing & consolidation, , controlling & statutory reporting), advisory (performance management, financial analysis) and transactions (banking, intercompany, cash management).

Activities/Responsibilities

• Manage the financial accounting & reporting closing process for all European legal entities to headquarters;
• Maintain and improve internal controls, processes, systems and procedures;
• Participation in the statutory audit process and external audits;
• Monthly reconciliations and analysis of variances of the internal financial reporting;
• Implement accounting policies and procedures;
• Manage all tax, VAT, payroll and insurance and legal matters;
• Protect the cost and expenses structure and optimize;
• Cash flow management including debt management and collection;
• Identify potential financial and legal risks and propose and implement contingency plans;
• Ensure compliance with local GAAP, Corporate policies, tax and social laws;
• Work closely together and support the European Finance Director in the daily financials;
• Initiate finance projects;
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders, auditors, local authorities, consultants and other service providers;
• Leading 2 Finance teams of 10 FTE’s in Poland and Belgium with local accountants as direct reports;
• Reporting to the European Finance Director.

Relevant candidate:

• With a Master’s degree in Economics, Finance or equivalent
• You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in results-driven environments including controlling experience and audit experience
• You have knowledge in Microsoft applications is key (especially good in Excel-is a must)
• You have experience with ERP is required (D365 experience is an asset)
• You are fluent in English, written and spoken (knowledge of French, Dutch or Polish is an asset)
• Track record of performance improvement projects or similar experience within the business is a plus
• You are well-organized, resilient and with a can-do, hands-on attitude, you have demonstrated a positive and a drive to results attitude
• You are focused on collaborating and working together. You’re capable of influencing, encouraging and stimulating others
• You’re able to work in an agile and changing environment
• You are thrilled about managing a multicultural team of finance experts
• You are ready to travel 5 days / quarter.
