Our company is growing and we are currently recruiting for a new, hands-on role, establishing a Financial Controller, within the newly acquired Ivemar business, within the Transpharma International (TPI) Business Unit of the Walden Group!
Job title: Financial Controller – Belgium
Location: Saintes (Tubize, Wallon Region, Belgium)
Function/Business Unit: Finance
Reporting to:Finance Director - TPI
Purpose of the role:
This position is to take on the finance resposibilities currently undertaken by one of the previous owners, following a transitional handover period, as well as bringing in house tasks currently outsourced to a local accounting firm.
There will be an initial focus on reviewing and streamling existing manual processes, and establishing an efficent and timley close process.
Responsibilities include management of a small finance team; all the day to day accounting operations to ensure that there is accurate and timely reporting of financial information (both within the TPI Business Unit and through to Group Finance); support for forecasting and budgeting activities; working with external consultants to ensure Statutory and Taxation filing deadlines are met, and preparation of ad-hoc analysis as required.
Once the role is established and processes have been streamlined for Ivemar, there may be opportunities to take on further responsibilities in due time.
Key Responsibilities
Staff
- Managing a team of 2 (1 AP clerk; 1 AR / invoicing clerk)
Accounting and controls
- Managing the General Ledger to ensure costs are properly recorded and charged to appropriate General Ledger accounts and cost centers, as applicable.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations – Preparing accurate monthly reconciliations, ensuring full Balance Sheet control.
- Enhance existing Management Reporting.
- Detailed margin analysis, by client and ad-hoc financial analysis as required.
- Ensuring all Sales invoicing is issued timely and accurately.
- Ensuring all Purchase invoices are processed and settled accurately.
- Ensure Working Capital is well managed.
- Submission of Monthly Reporting to Group in line with set deadlines.
- Ensure Group Lease Database is up to date, and all leases are captured to facilaitate Group Lease Accounting adjustments.
- Adherance to other Group Reporting requests.
- Ensure VAT returns are submitted timely and accurately.
- Work with external consultants to ensure accurate and timely Statutory Accounts and Taxation return filing.
Other:
- Prepare budget and forecast information and submit to Group for consolidation.
- Responsible for maintaining internal financial controls including ensuring all internal accounting policies are correctly implemented and adhered to under corporate policy and best practice.
- Support continuous process improvement in reducing the month-end reporting window by stream-lining processes and re-organising activities.
- Responsible for maintaining detailed knowledge of general ledger technology and for driving improvements and efficiencies.
- Responsible for ad-hoc analysis or investigative work where necessary/required.
- Other tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the accounting function.
- Ensure OneGate Statistical Submission Requests are met.
Key Experience / Skills
Essential
- Must have a flexible approach to work and be capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Proactive approach to problem solving with ability to propose solutions and process improvements.
- Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work with and empathise with colleagues and customers from varied backgrounds and cultures.
- Qualified Accountant with post qualified experience gained within a Corporate environment.
- Business standard English, Dutch and French, spoken and written.
- Solid interpersonal communication and intercultural skills.
- Ability to perform effectively to reporting deadlines under own initiative.
- Ability to work overtime as needed to meet reporting deadlines.
- Strong MS Excel skills are required.
- Experience of working with Accounting / Financial Systems.
Desirable:
- Experience in using Microsoft Dynamics Navision (local ledger system)
- Pharma / Logistics experience
