Description


This position will support all aspects of the company’s Intellectual Property practice, with a focus on patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyright. You will report directly to the Assistant General Counsel for Intellectual Property and will interact with Global Colleagues

RESPONSIBILITIES & SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES


  • Accountable for all aspects of U.S. trademark filing, prosecution and maintenance and oversees filing and maintenance of international trademark applications and registrations, including liaising with foreign counsel
  • Manage and maintain patent and trademark docket for deadlines as well as manage our large global trademark portfolio
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to design and execute programs to proactively deter misuse of company intellectual property, including brand enforcement and anti-counterfeiting programs
  • Assist inventors with preparation and submission of invention disclosures, freedom to operate search requests, and trade secret protection plan submissions; Manage and administer the inventor award program and ensure timely payments to inventors
  • Review product names, product technology and marketing assets prior to internal and/or external distribution to ensure proper use of company trademarks/copyrights and other intellectual property assets
  • Engage with internal global marketing teams to conduct and analyze trademark clearance searches
  • Facilitate reporting on global brand protection and enforcement activities to business partners, and stay up to date on industry trends in global brand protection and enforcement
  • Develop guidelines, update internal policies/procedures, and conduct trainings for key stakeholders about brand protection, copyright matters and other intellectual property issues
  • Communicate with outside counsel on patent-related matters, facilitate patent prosecution and coordinate virtual marking for patented products
  • Coordinate and prepare materials for IP Committee meetings including agenda and minutes
  • Manage and update, as needed, the compay’s internal IP policies and other documents, including its Patent Policy, Trade Secret Policy, Trademark Reference Guide, and external facing patent marking page
  • Assist with various tasks relating to operations, including IP budgeting, invoices, accruals and tracking / forecasting, and reporting on key metrics
  • Assist with e-billing system administration, review and approve all IP invoices

Profile


Education

  • Undergraduate degree or comparable years of experience

Job Experience

  • 5 years of experience as an IP paralegal or administrative specialist with a law firm or company
  • Global experience is a plus

Knowledge and Skills

  • Familiar with the intricacies of the IP prosecution process
  • Paralegal certification a plus
