About Our Client

Our client is a Belgian international company active in the industry, with the HQ based in Walloon-Brabant.

Job Description

As Legal Counsel in commercial law, you will reinforce the European Legal Team and report to the European Head of Legal. You will support the business in day-to-day legal matters, such as drafting and reviewing contracts, advising on potential legal risks and exposures, as well as assisting on certain other specific legal matters on a need-basis. As Legal Counsel in commercial law, your key responsibilities include:

  • Drafting and negotiating national and/or international contracts (such as commercial agreements, procurement contracts and logistics contracts)
  • Providing legal advice to the relevant operational teams on various matters covering a broad range of issues related to business and contract law, company law, real estate matters, as well as potentially intellectual property or financing
  • Providing a risk assessment of legal problems that may arise in transactions considered by the operational teams
  • Assisting operational teams in the handling of disputes and managing litigation files within external lawyers
  • Supporting operational teams with permitting or compliance matters

The Successful Applicant

As Legal Counsel in commercial law, you meet the following requirements:

  • You have a Master’s degree in Belgian law
  • You have 2 to 7 years of experience, ideally with experience in a law firm. Experience in the industry sector is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in French and English. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus
  • You are pragmatic, creative and problem solver
  • You are willing to go the extra-mile and learn about new areas of law
