Job Overview and Responsibilities
The Payroll Specialist Benelux (NL/BE) will be in charge of supporting the Solvay Belgian Payroll and Benefits Team by providing accurate and timely services linked to Payroll or Benefits for Belgium and Netherlands (Luxemburg is out of scope for this position).
Based in Belgium, he/she will be part of a team of around 12 people based in Brussels (Neder-Over-Hembeek) that are in charge of the Benelux zone. Under the guidance of the Payroll Manager for BeNelux, he/she will take in charge autonomously several operational and complex activities linked to Payroll or Benefits.
The main responsibilities of the BeNeLux Payroll Specialist are to:
- Coordinate the end-to-end payroll process, and execute and monitor the controls in close collaboration with the Payroll team as well as with the external payroll provider to ensure the timely Payroll service delivery, using SAP payroll (monthly / quarterly / yearly processes) for Belgium and Netherland. For clarity, Solvay does not work with a social office in Belgium;
- Analyze new Belgian and Netherlands legislations and HR rules, and assess their impact on the processes, procedures and tools (change requests to be managed with HR and the external payroll provider);
- Define / recommend continuous improvements from a functional perspective, and collect systems and process requirements based on his/her knowledge of local legislation and HR rules;
- Provide accurate and timely payroll services for the Netherlands (about 130 active employees across 3 sites (Vlaardingen, Moerdijk, Linne-Herten);
- Process salary administration (follow-up, closing, monitoring of monthly salaries, bonuses, allowances, …) and monitor time registration for the Netherlands;
- Support the management and administration of monthly advantages, coordinate and monitor activities performed by the payroll provider, perform in-depth consistency checks on data received and check results before transferring them into the payroll system, in line with the payroll calendar;
- Provide reports, expertise and support to colleagues and internal stakeholders and employees, e.g. work council reports, total reward statement, collective agreements, etc.;
- Deliver information to the external authorities and represent Solvay where required, e.g. manage and maintain relationships with auditors or controllers, social or fiscal inspection, etc.;
- Participate in or lead local projects.
Education and Experience
Bachelor degree in Payroll/HRIS/Finance or equivalent through experience, i.e. strong (minimum 5 years) experience in Payroll Operations in Belgian/Netherlands Pay
Skills
- Belgium/Netherlands payroll and legislation knowledge;
- In-depth knowledge of SAP HR;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google tools / advanced use of spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets);
- Work autonomously;
- Strong customer service orientation;
- Continuous improvement and sense of initiative mindset;
- Team player & collaborative approach.
- Team management experience and skills
- Fluent in Dutch and English, French is an asset
