EuRIC is currently looking for aPolicy Officer to join the team

EuRIC is the Confederation representing the interests of the European recycling industries. EuRIC brings together European and national recycling associations from more than 23 EU and EFTA countries and represents their interests by acting as the trusted interface between the recycling industry and the European Union. We serve as a platform for information, cooperation and exchange of best practices on all European recycling matters. More information about EuRIC: www.euric-aisbl.eu

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyse the implications of EU environmental legislation for the recycling industry;
  • Draft policy statements, positions and relevant policy documents as well as prepare responses to public consultations based on members’ input;
  • Advocacy of positions agreed by EuRIC before the European institutions and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Manage activities with members and coordinating the work of EuRIC working groups.

Desired profile

  • Master degree in economics, political science or environmental studies;
  • Strong interest in environment-related topics (Circular economy, waste legislation, product policy, sustainable finance);
  • Ability to analyse complex issues swiftly, be them of a legal, technical or economic nature, and communicate them in layman’s terms;
  • Fluent written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU languages is an asset;
  • Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills and entrepreneurial mindset;
  • Ability to prioritise work, deal with a variety of topics with strict deadlines and work independently;
  • Proven computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional international short-term travels.

Professional experience

  • Between 2 to 3 years of relevant professional experience in EU environmental affairs;
  • Prior knowledge or willingness to learn about EU decision-making processes;
  • Prior professional experience in the waste management or recycling industry would be a plus;
