Business context and main purpose of the job
Unilever Food Solutions (UFS) is the foodservice business unit of Unilever with businesses in 76 countries across the world. We are a dedicated, fast growing and profitable business unit within Nutrition and we are offering many of the world’s leading food brands like Knorr, Hellmann’s & The Vegetarian Butcher.

Our customers range from restaurants and hotels through to pub chefs and workplace, school or hospital caterers - as well as the wholesalers and cash and carries who service the foodservice industry.
We are now looking for a Portfolio Marketeer to help strengthen our marketing team in Belgium, based in Brussel.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to work in an international context in a developing part of Unilever Food Solutions.
You will be responsible for a part of the UFS BE portfolio working closer with the Portfolio Manager but also with local and European/Global teams (marketing, R&D, supply chain…) on portfolio innovations & renovations.
Content/Accountabilitiesof the role:
As Portfolio marketing specialist you are the expert of the UFS BE portfolio and manage the mix, focused on different categories:
- You are passionate to help the operators (the chefs) to love what they do.
- You support and deploy global led innovation and renovation projects in Belgium and ensure perfect execution (from the insight to the effective launch). You follow up and track results of the projects.
- You support and deploy the Best Recipe Program by analyzing the current UFS BE portfolio and proposing way forward to optimize it including harmonization with other countries and/or simplification.
- You track performance of your categories and top sellers related versus the (new) needs of the market and competition. You identify any issues and/or opportunities and implement corrective actions with relevant stakeholders when needed.
- You deliver for all ongoing projects and Top 10 products the product mix (7 P’s) needed to a perfect deployment locally (incl. internal & external selling story + offline & online assets): Among other things:
- You adapt global brand equity toolkits for innovations and renovations to make them fit for the market (internally & externally). You work closely with Belgian Operator & Digital Marketing.
- You develop Top 10 one-pagers.
- If necessary, on top of the global led projects, you develop the UFS BE business by leading specific innovation/local renovation projects, mainly for big customers in cooperation with the chef’s team, R&D (local deploy), quality and supply chain.
- You cooperate with the CPUs team (Central Production Units) and support them to propose/initiate specific solutions where possible.
- You lead artwork and claims development for perfect on-pack communication.
- You lead the implementation of “German on-pack” by adding the German language on all the UFS BE products as mentioned in the law.
- You collaborate with the Market & Operator insights Manager to collect insights & foresights about the market in general, the categories and the operators to build a portfolio of solutions that drive sustainable growth.
- You organize trainings for the sales team together with the chef’s team on launches/relaunches and Top 10 portfolio.
- You set recommended pricing strategy with finance and the leadership team based on strategic pricing guidelines and local benchmark.
- And finally, you are ready to deal with unexpected situations (calamities) such as production problems or a shortage of raw materials and to resolve them by keeping the needs of the Belgian market in mind.
