To support the growth of our R&D VISO Team, we are currently hiring a Process Technician.


Purpose of the job:


To organize and perform materials preparation, physical analyses and tests required for research, development, postmortem analysis or quality control of processes or products and to aid the relevant Development Engineers or Development Manager.

Requirements:

Key responsibilities:


  • The position will execute experiments and assignments for new product development projects in the assigned Research Unit •Compute data acquired from experiments and report in a professional manner to the supervising Research team
  • In co-ordination with team leaders, support the documentation, review and audit of lab procedures and best practices, along with mentoring/training of new technicians.
  • The position will support other activities on-site by participating in safety, preventive maintenance, housekeeping, etc.
  • Competent on routine laboratory tests and experiment to assist Development Engineers in making qualitative or quantitative analyses of materials using techniques that will be agreed upon with the Engineer.
  • Diligent and methodical on performing required materials preparation, sample preparation, and analyses to check safety, accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of the test data.
  • Record data and graphs, prepares simple charts or graphs, and capable of spotting any abnormal test results. •Accurately follow work instructions along with established operating procedures and test methods.
  • Maintain and clean laboratory instruments or equipment.
  • Identifies and implements improvements in R&D lab practices and equipment to yield a safer working environment and better quality R&D results.
  • Provide and maintain safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams and by conducting laboratory/plant safety audits.
  • Provide technical support or assistance to all engineers around the lab and at off site places.

Skills & Experience

  • 3-5 years’ practical experience in a lab environment related to Refractory Manufacturing, Refractory Product Development, or industrial R&D.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing procedures.
  • Basic understanding of different types of refractory materials. Skilled at "hands on" work with laboratory equipment and ideally materials testing
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 25kg
  • Strong safety orientation; always operating within safe practice boundaries
  • Familiarity with high temperature laboratory furnaces
  • Fork lift truck experience
  • Computer proficiency - Microsoft Office Confidence in written and oral communication skills for technical reporting
