Overview:
The Regional Technology Manager will lead /manage projects, including development of new facilities, processes, and integration of acquisitions. The position will be responsible to supply operations directors in EMEA region (but could support other global operations) with engineering expertise and analysis to achieve project design and execution along with process optimization. He/she will lead continual development of standards of excellence and share best practices for engineering excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop/review/approve PFDs, P&IDs, batch cycle times, equipment/instrument datasheets and specifications, layouts material/people flow, and mass and energy balances.
  • Manage engineering firms, as well as manage/collaborate with construction managers to ensure adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Technology management which includes responsibility for managing technology design and supporting infrastructure
  • Accounting responsibility, analyzing, and reviewing project parameters and budgets, production, equipment requirements and required resources.
  • Provide technical support to existing and future production efforts and projects and exercise good independent judgment.
  • Process Optimization, including statistical analysis to make decisions and recommendations on plant operations.
  • Work with supply chain to initiate process improvements, develop conceptual and detailed design deliverables, and lead the project through to successful implementation.
  • Approve equipment vendor selection and submittal drawings.
  • Lead and be responsible for the growth and development of the engineering team in EMEA region.
  • Collaborate with global engineering group on projects and provide expertise, guidance, and recommendations on global projects as needed.

Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Chemical engineering degree or mechanical engineering degree but with heavy concentration in process and process development.
  • 10+ years of experience (food or life science industry preferred)
  • Fluent in English (Italian/Dutch speaking is a plus).
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Location will be in Italy or Belgium.


HIGHLY DESIRABLE:


  • Direct managerial experience
  • 3+ years of work experience in an industrial setting (animal feed/premix/pet food/chemical API)
  • Highly independent as direct supervisor is located in Des Moines, USA.
  • Ability to work productively in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong coordination skills with ability to understand process/equipment needs and potential issues.
  • Highly communicative and “team centric” to work closely with operations personnel.
