Job Title: Scrum Master - Expert

Location: 1000 Brussels, Belgium

Languages Required: English (fluent) and at least one local language (Dutch or French)

Experience Required: Minimum 6 years of relevant experience

Mission Context:

We are seeking a highly experienced Scrum Master - Expert to guide and support agile project teams within a complex, multicultural banking environment. You will be the key reference point in implementing and facilitating Agile/Scrum methodology across squads and projects. As a delivery owner, you will not only ensure proper Agile practices but also act as a coach, mentor, and facilitator to maximize team effectiveness while protecting them from distractions.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Follow-up & Delivery Ownership

  • Serve as the delivery owner across multiple squads.
  • Set up and facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies: Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Retrospectives.
  • Schedule and monitor all key Agile methodology steps.
  • Ensure smooth application of the Scrum framework and resolve team impediments.
  • Support Product Owners with backlog management and prioritization.
  • Help teams meet Definition of Done (DoD), manage the Sprint Backlog, and deliver value.
  • Track and report team velocity and capacity metrics for planning and forecasting.

Agile Coaching & Methodology

  • Coach the team in Agile principles and challenge them to adopt continuous improvement practices.
  • Promote team self-organization and guide them through challenges and blockers.
  • Act as an Agile ambassador within the organization, promoting Agile mindset and values.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to manage expectations and project status.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior management on Agile deployment and adoption.
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, and cross-team dependencies.

Technical & Business Expertise:

Mandatory Technical Skills:

  • Strong expertise with Agile tools such as Jira.
  • Understanding of automated testing (unit and functional) and CI/CD toolchains.
  • Solid knowledge of software development and project management methodologies.
  • Proven ability to balance Agile coaching with delivery responsibilities.
  • Experience working in large, complex organizations.
  • Comfortable with multi-cultural, cross-functional teams.

Mandatory Business Skills:

  • Expert-level understanding of Agile frameworks and techniques (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
  • Experience managing multiple dependencies in complex enterprise (ideally banking) environments.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized and structured in planning and execution.
  • Enthusiastic about knowledge sharing and growing Agile maturity.
