About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join a growing manufacturing company based in Hasselt. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end accounting activities, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with Belgian accounting standards. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, improving accounting processes, and supporting the finance team with analytical insight.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting

• Manage general ledger accounting and ensure accuracy of all financial transactions.
• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules.
• Ensure timely and accurate recording of inventory movements, production costs, and other manufacturing-related financial data.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
• Assist with statutory reporting and support external audits.
• Consolidate financial information for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.

Compliance & Controls

• Ensure compliance with Belgian GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls.
• Assist with tax filings (VAT, corporate tax support, intrastat, etc.) in collaboration with tax advisors or internal specialists.

Process & System Improvement

• Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance accounting processes.
• Support digitalization or ERP improvement initiatives within the finance department.
• Collaborate closely with production, supply chain, and operational teams to improve financial data accuracy.

Cross-Functional Support

• Provide accounting guidance to operational departments.
• Act as a key point of contact for auditors, banks, and external partners.
• Support finance management in ad hoc analysis and projects.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Solid understanding of Belgian GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Experience with cost accounting or inventory accounting is a strong plus.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (manufacturing ERP experience preferred).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.
