EQUANS Belux is currently looking for a Senior Business Developer Collective Energy Systemsfor Flanders (function based in Flanders or Brussels, regular travelling within Belgium).


The aim is to foster business development by originating, assessing and developing business growth opportunities in line with EQUANS’ Energy Transition strategy to minimize the carbon footprint of its customers.
Reporting to the Division Manager Sales & Smart Solutions, your main responsibility is to manage collective energy systems projects (e.g. from origination until handing over to the realization teams).

You have amongst others the following responsibilities:

  • you prospect & manage leads
  • you identify, assess and filter project opportunities
  • you suggest and challenge technical designs in close interaction with amongst other realization teams, tendering team, engineering offices and other consultants
  • run financial business model
  • you prepare and present commercial offers, lead commercial negotiations
  • you lead the negotiations of key project contracts in collaboration with the sales, legal and operational teams
  • you build and maintain constructive long-lasting relationships with customers (public authorities, real estate developers, general contractors…)
  • you build on the expertise of various departments (legal, finance, strategy, engineering, operations…) to achieve the development objectives
  • you ensure that projects presented to investment committees are developed in accordance with the highest standards (general project structure, risk assessment and mitigation, presentation materials for internal approvals)
    • you take the responsibility for the preparation of the deliverables
  • you provide solutions to the issues encountered by the project, thanks to a high level of business understanding and a solution-oriented mindset
  • you bring support in setting up the business plan of the BD team for the coming years
  • you provide structured reporting on BD activities, including budgetary
  • you bring support to the BU commercial and strategy functions
  • you build a strong cooperation with the operational managers & teams to achieve the P&L objectives together as a team
  • you roll out and further develop new business models and solutions
  • you ensure both business continuity as well as the implementation of the BU strategy

Your skills and knowledge

  • you have a university degree in engineering, commercial degree will also be envisaged
  • a complementary MBA/finance/legal education is a plus
  • you have the following professional experience (requirements in function of seniority):
    • experience in the field of business development
    • experience in the field of sales and commercial developments
    • experience in the energy and/or services sectors
    • experience in technical design of installations (heat, cold, electricity…)
    • proven track record of successful project management (planning, managing processes…)
    • experience in financial modelling & analysis & financing
    • proven track record of negotiating project agreements of all kind
    • proven track record of closing transactions (installation, maintenance, acquisitions, divestments, investments, financing…) is a strong asset
    • detailed knowledge of the Belux services and energy markets and their participants (current and potential new entrants) is a strong asset
  • you have a legal knowledge regarding project development in certain fields
  • you can approach potential customers, understand their needs and present on behalf of the company
  • you have proven leadership & cooperation skills
  • you can work in a multicultural/multilingual environment
  • you have a strong business acumen
  • you have excellent multitasking and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize objectives and tasks
  • you have excellent oral and written communication skills towards various stakeholders
  • you are self-driven and an autonomous worker with strong business ethics
  • you have good analytical skills
  • you can work under pressure to meet scheduled and demanding timelines
  • you speak fluently in English, Dutch and French

These services are mainly contracted through heat and cold delivery contracts.
