Would you like to be part of the public policy team that is working with to help achieve that goal for our customers and the planet? Are you passionate about European environmental policy, the circular economy, and energy efficiency? Amazon Web Services is looking for an innovative public policy professional to drive our environmental priorities and advocacy efforts across the EMEA region. This role can be based in Brussels or Luxembourg.

The successful candidate will help develop AWS policy positions related to the circular economy, extended producer responsibility, ecodesign, and other environmental issues in the EU and across EMEA. This person must have experience working closely with government, policymakers, and thought leaders from across EMEA on environmental policy issues.

The Senior Manager of Environmental Policy will be responsible for a portfolio of complex environmental policy issues across the EMEA region. They will work closely with the AWS Public Policy team across the region to lead policy advocacy with regulators, political leaders, and organizations on environmental policy matters. They will also coordinate with internal business leaders to ensure that AWS policy initiatives are in line with our current business practices and our sustainability goals.
Basic Qualifications
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience of policy-making – either within or outside of government – on environmental issues
  • An understanding and experience with European policy processes and a background on subjects related to environmental policy
  • Written and spoken fluency of English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise on topics related to environmental policy, circular economy, ecodesign, and energy efficiency, such as the European Green Deal and the Circular Economy Action Plan
  • Experience working with industry groups, NGOs, and other stakeholders, with a proven record of successful collaboration
  • A background working with complex coalitions, building stakeholder groups, and coordinating across matrixed organizations.
  • Demonstrated expertise explaining complex subjects to a wide variety of audiences, public speaking experience is a plus.
  • Strong written communication skills with a background writing on policy issues for non-policy readers.
  • A self-starter that has created, led and driven innovative projects from concept to conclusion.
  • Proven team player that has worked in roles that require coordination across various teams to achieve success
  • Additional language skills, with a preference for commonly used languages in Europe
