The Research & Innovation function (R&I) leads Solvay into new growth territories with breakthrough innovation to generate new products, applications and processes in the field of sustainable chemistry. Partners with the GBUs to deliver more value and leverages the Group’s capabilities to improve competitiveness and create new business opportunities for Solvay and its customers.

Job Overview and Responsibilities



  • In close collaboration with the Solvay Material Science Application Center (MSAC) and our Application Development Labs (ADL), develop expertise in simulation methodologies to support customer challenges related to hybrid structural applications (overmolding of thermoplastic composite inserts).
  • Work in close collaboration with the Customer Technical Development team to support CAE customer requests including structural analyses (ABAQUS), processing simulation (ANIFORM, MOLDFLOW …) and coupled analyses to integrate influence of fiber orientation (DIGIMAT).
  • Transfer new methodologies to the WW VE team (8 CAE engineers) and promote new VE tools internally.
  • Actively participate to WW conferences related to modeling in order to promote our expertise and CAE capabilities.

Education and Experience



  • University degree in mechanical engineering or material science, or a technical related field
  • Proven background in numerical simulation and modeling applied to polymers (understanding of polymer physics and melt processing aspects) with at least 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • Experience in modelling of continuous fiber composite structures (structural and processing) is strongly requested
  • Familiar with one or multiple FEA suites (ABAQUS, ANSYS …) and tools for coupled analyses like DIGIMAT

  • You are an excellent Team player with ability to work efficiently within an international environment
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills (internal and external)
