Job Purpose and Impact

The Information Specialist will perform in depth technical, scientific, business or archival research, analysis and library operations and provide research services and solutions to broadly defined, complex problems that require full knowledge of business issues. In this role, you will gather, analyze and present appropriate scientific or business research results, data and general insights to business partners. You will create summaries and executive briefings that require in depth analysis that typically include relevant information such as references, articles, presentations and other subscription content. You will identify, evaluate, acquire and deploy tools and resources and perform library operations, system maintenance, user support and training.

Primary location: Vilvoorde, Belgium / Mechelen, Belgium / Schiphol, Netherlands / Sofia, Bulgaria

Key Accountabilities
  • Classify and process complex scientific or business information requests from business partners requiring deep understanding of business issues and gather additional research requirements from business partners as necessary.
  • Conduct collaborative and complex research, using traditional and non traditional data sources in which facts are scientific in nature with thorough interpretation and analysis.
  • Provide counsel on information services and solutions to clients, including research and development and marketing leaders, based on full knowledge of information services and specific expert capabilities.
  • Generate specialized reports from databases, typically requiring creation of complex queries and drawing upon full knowledge of science, technology, or complex business issues.
  • Partner with internal clients to understand the focus area of research requests utilizing broad knowledge of scientific or business trends and issues to proactively provide alerts and updates on resources and findings.
  • Partner with the leadership team to identify outreach and education needs and develop communication, marketing and training strategy, plans and programs for resources, services and capabilities in alignment with broader organizations goals.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience with information services applications and databases
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience generating complex specialized reports from databases, typically requiring creation of complex queries, drawing upon specific or deep knowledge of issues
