ABOUT THE PROJECT ‘FUTURE OF WORK AND INCLUSIVE GROWTH’
Bruegel is carrying out an ambitious, three-year-long research project “Future of Work and Inclusive Growth” to analyse the impact of new technologies and new ways of working on the nature, quantity and quality of work and welfare systems in Europe.
The project investigates the following technological changes impacting the labour market: AI and its distributional effects, the platformisation of work, remote working and regional inequalities, the data economy, and the impact of technology on the work environment, job quality, education, and human capital investment. The project also assesses the adequacy of existing welfare systems to deal with these labour market disruptions and the need to adapt welfare systems to reduce inequality and poverty and protect people from hardship.
The project includes funding for a Future of Work dashboard, in-depth case studies, econometric analysis, and European-wide dissemination of the findings through a broad range of communication channels (events, podcasts, publications). The project also serves as a platform for regular exchanges of knowledge and insights with different stakeholders and an excellence group.
