The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (38 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (15 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Duties
Serves as chauffeur at the Tri-Mission in Brussels, consisting of over 2,000 employees, either in the motor pool, or on courier runs, shuttle, or assigned to high-level visitors, as well as back up chauffeur to the three Chief of Missions, to the U.S. Embassy to the Kingdom of Belgium, the European Union (USEU), and to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (USNATO).
Includes driving on errands, delivering documents or messages. Assists in handling baggage or light cargo up to 40 lbs per bag. Responsible at all times for the safety and security of the passenger(s) and the proper use of the vehicle. Maintains logs on vehicle to show who is driven (person and agency) and mileage.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years’ experience as a chauffeur or two years’ experience as a driver in commerce, public transportation or similar backgrounds.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Close familiarity with Brussels area and general familiarity with roads throughout Belgium required. Elementary knowledge of auto mechanics, safety and maintenance procedures required. Knowledge of traffic code, emergency procedures in case of accidents, map reading, use of GPS, etc. Knowledge of JAS smoking policy and U.S. regulation concerning use of seat belts in USG vehicles. Good knowledge of automobile engine; familiarity with all relevant regulations applicable to motor vehicles; recognition of importance to U.S. Government of courtesy to other drivers and to pedestrians; must be faithful and discreet.
Secondary school is required.
LANGUAGE: Good working knowledge in English. Working knowledge of French and Dutch.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to drive safely at all times, not only sedans but most Embassy vehicles (License B required). Ability to use two-way radio and GSM correctly and with fluent English pronunciation. Ability to remain cheerful and pleasant with all passengers, regardless of late hours or fatigue. Ability to be discreet and not repeat overheard passenger conversations. Ability to pass rigid annual medical chauffeur examination in accordance with Belgian law. Maintains neat personal appearance, including clean, pressed uniforms, shirts, and coats, shined shoes, etc. Ability to grasp instructions and directions rapidly; expert chauffeur qualification.

Benefits and Other Info
Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Brussels may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

IMPORTANT: Applicants who claim status as a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of their most recent DD-214 (“Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty”), equivalent documentation, or certification. A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
