We’re looking for a Commercial Business Analyst, to reinforce the commercial bid team!
The role involves working within the global bid team department to provide dedicated, high-quality financial modelling expertise and commercial bid support. You’ll work with teams spread all over the world, but whom are mainly based in Belgium, U.S.A. and Singapore.
This is a key role within ST Engineering iDirect to ensure that we are in the best position to win good business to grow and develop the company. You’ll be exposed in a commercial environment, while your financial knowledge will be valued as a real asset to prepare proper business cases.
The bid team drives complex programs for large and strategic sales opportunities and creates offers for its customers, satellite operators and satellite service providers. These projects are typically multimillion-dollar investments for our customers and concern first-time deployments of new products and services, which are defined in light of our strategy and long-term ambition.
Day to day this means working with bid teams to develop and populate accurate cost models, actively challenging inputs, working to satisfy internal governance requirements and supporting analysis of optimal pricing solutions that will be provided to customers alongside our proposed technical solution for our major programs.

At the same time you’ll be closely working with our finance department to ensure that the “creativity” during a sales project can be translated post-sales and is in line with our financial reporting/accountancy guidelines.
Responsibilities:As Commercial business analyst you will:
- Continue to develop the project P&L model and continue to share best practises across multiple ‘non-standard’ models for our major programs
- Continue to develop and update (excel based) models used within the Bid Mgt departement and create quarterly reports on bid management related activities (e.g. upcoming workload, price and cost metrics)
- Assist the bid team in developing creative pricing solutions increasing the chances to win
- Assist the Finance team in evaluating business cases on effective project margin in the implementation phase vs calculated project margin in the bid phase. Help in an effective translation of both in line with the ETC model.
- Be the liaison with the Finance Group when addressing financial (non-standard) questions (e.g. impact on accounting, introduction of new price models, depreciations etc) related to our major programs
- Maintain and improve the financial knowledge within the bid community through training
- Ensure that accurate costing of released products is sourced from the appropriate channels, through collaboration with Global Supply Chain, Engineering and Production Engineering
- Provide support to the bid governance process, identifying financial and commercial risks for discussion
- Maintain expertise in financial reporting requirements
- Strive for continuous improvement
As our prequisite Commercial business analyst you:
- hold Master Degree in Business Economics (handelsingenieur) or relevant professional financial qualification (or equivalent combination of relevant alternative professional qualification and relevant financial experience (minimum 3 years experience)
- have the ability to interpret financial information to aid decision-making
- have strong analytical skills with elaborate knowledge of Excel
- have an interest in or knowledge of product costing
- have the capacity to handle demanding and fluctuating workload
- have thoroughness and attention to detail with a steadiness under pressure
- are a real team player
- have strong communication skills to work with a range of people across the business
- are interested in technology and eager to understand the company’s products and systems in support of effective evaluation of the bids
- are quick to familiarize yourself and work with SAP, source data from the system and critically evaluate the quality of the data
- are confident to be able to work in a matrix organization reporting to the Director Bid Office and (dotted line) to the VP of Finance
- are fluent in English, any other language is an asset
