Currently we are looking for aCustoms Manager.
Key responsibilities
Customs Compliance:
- Ensure all import and export activities comply with local and international customs regulations and policies, including correct classification of goods, accurate declaration of customs value, and handling of all related issues.
- Request new and manage the existing customs licenses, AEO expertise is a plus.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs laws, tariffs, and trade agreements and have changes implemented
- Perform and assist on internal and external customs reporting (including Chamber of commerce ‘deposited file’, CBAM and EUDR).
- Ensure proper documentation is available for audits and inspections.
- Manage data and instructions for timely monthly/weekly payments towards FOD Finance.
- Ensure customs data is accurately submitted to the VAT team for entering.
Process Management:
- Review the current customs procedures and finetune where required.
- Coordinate with ICS, logistics, procurement, Tax and other departments to streamline import/export processes.
- Monitor and manage the performance of customs brokers and other third-party service providers.
Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate risks related to customs compliance, safety and security as well as supply chain disruptions.
- Conduct regular internal checks of customs processes and documentation (in view of the AEO certification and in future TCT “trust & check trader”).
- Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies with customs authorities.
Cost Management:
- Analyze and optimize customs procedures, customs duties, tariffs, and other related costs.
- Negotiate with customs brokers and other service providers to achieve cost savings.
- Implement strategies to minimize customs-related expenses.
Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in international trade, logistics, or a related field with a minimum of 7-year experience on the customs formalities.
- Expertise regarding customs regulations and trade compliance as well as in-depth knowledge of Customs Law.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrating self-motivation and efficiency in achieving objectives.
- Strong in Automation and Problem Solving
- Proficiency in relevant software and systems (e.g., customs clearance software, ERP systems).
- Good written and verbal communication in English.
