Job description
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a globally active federal enterprise. It supports the Federal Government in international cooperation for sustainable development and in international education work. The GIZ works with partners in national governments worldwide and cooperation partners from the worlds of business, research and civil society, to deliver effective solutions that offer people better prospects and sustainably improve their living conditions.
The GIZ Representation Brussels ensures to maintain a coherent corporate identity of GIZ vis-à-vis the EU and its institutions. The Representation’s key activities are maintaining client dialogue, positioning GIZ with its experience, strengthening the sector expertise, and networking with other partners. It monitors political developments in the EU and advises GIZ internally on cooperation with the EU.
The GIZ Representation Brussels is looking for 3 interns for a period of 6 months from 1st February, 15th February and 1st March 2022. A shorter internship period is not possible. We offer you an exciting and varied job in a dynamic team. You will gain an intensive insight into the structures and working methods of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH as well as practical work experience in the direct environment of the European Union.
Your tasks
During your internship you will support the following tasks:
- Support in the observation and analysis of the activities of the European institutions
- Organisation and execution of events
- Participation in and reporting on events
- Research tasks for the staff and the Director of the Representative Office
- Administrative support
Your profile
- Fluent in spoken and written German and English or fluent English with basic knowledge of German, knowledge of French is an advantage
- University studies (at least 3 completed semesters of a Bachelor’s degree or a degree completed no longer than 6 months prior to the start of the internship) in social/economic sciences, law, political science or regional sciences; or a comparable degree programme
- Good understanding of the functioning of the European institutions, first practical experience in a European institution is desirable
- Ideally already a basic knowledge of international cooperation issues in the European context
Notes
Please be informed that you are only allowed to apply for this internship, if you are currently enrolled as a student or graduated not longer than six months ago from the start of your internship.
We pay a monthly stipend of €1.225,- (gross) + other benefits. Please note, that the contract will be concluded under Belgian law.
