We are looking for an Artist Legal Counsel to join our legal team and play a crucial role in our rapid growth.

Responsibilities:

• Provide ongoing legal support to the Artist Acquisition team to devise strategy and close deals necessary to scale artist acquisition, onboarding and upselling for Winamp.
• Review, draft and negotiate key blanket agreements.
• Respond promptly to legal requests from internal stakeholders.
• Provide pragmatic, business-focused, solution-oriented legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders with regard to business and legal risks and company policies.
• Coordinate with Product and Engineering teams in connection with product developments and innovations related with artist services within the Winamp umbrella.

Qualifications:

• Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years of experience negotiating and drafting complex digital music rights deals with or for digital service providers (DSP) and / or user-generated content (UGC) platforms.
• Subject matter expertise, with and a deep and broad understanding of the digital music publishing rights landscape, is a pre-requisite.
• Knowledge and experience in drafting and negotiating IP terms in business transactions, copyright related agreements, licensing of music composers/authors/publishers’ rights and performers/producers’ rights (e.g. public performance rights and mechanical rights), are required.
• Good knowledge of copyright law, both at the European and international level (Directives, Treaties; US copyright law) and demonstrable experience with copyright and neighboring rights in their application to the music sector, are a pre-requisite.
• Knowledge of the Creative Commons licenses and of the European Digital Services Act package is a plus.
• Knowledge in the field of copyright and neighboring rights collective management and related regulations, particularly in Europe (including a good understanding of how Collective Management Organizations and Independent Management Entities operate).
• Understanding of data and identification systems used in the publishing industry for rights holders, musical works and sound recordings identification systems (e.g IPI, ISWC, ISRC).
• Experience in IP litigation (e.g. copyright infringement) is a plus.
• Ability to approach IP creation and protection with a strategic mindset by anticipating future business, competitive and legal risks, and opportunities and offering creative solutions.
• Experience working collaboratively and cross-functionally in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with tight turn-around times and deadlines.
