Chemours is seeking a Packaging Waste Compliance Leader to join our growing Product Sustainability Team to lead our global product packaging waste compliance work and to advance our packaging materials strategy in a growing circular economy. This position will report to the Regulatory Compliance Manager. The work location for this position is flexible within Europe and the US.

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations for packaging waste are circular economy driven, aiming to reduce waste and to promote shifting to more sustainable packaging materials. Regulations are increasingly more complex by including all packaging material (including returnable containers) and by including packaging material waste generated by consuming raw materials at manufacturing locations. These types of regulations will likely continue to be introduced and enforced in more countries across the globe. The Packaging Waste Compliance Leader will be the corporate expert for product packaging waste regulations globally and will provide guidance to each business for implementing their compliance strategy. This leader will partner internally with commercial, technical, and procurement teams, and externally with service providers and governmental bodies.

The role provides an opportunity for professional growth in the future to become the competency leader for guiding sustainable and circular packaging options and packaging waste reduction mechanisms across our global operations. This leader will drive circularity with science and data and will support internal and external programs that promote source reduction, reuse and recycling for packaging and products.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Understand EPR packaging waste regulations in countries/states of interest to Chemours
• Provide guidance to each business for compliance, impact assessments and how to implement business compliance and circularity strategies for packaging waste
• Implement and maintain a packaging waste compliance register and calendar for the jurisdictions where reporting requirements exist (for example, specific EU-27 countries and South Korea)
• Monitor, understand and communicate emerging and to be amended regulations globally
• Contribute to business processes to ensure EPR packaging waste obligations are embedded in the overall business strategy
• Provide guidance to implementation and maintenance of a robust and evergreen corporate data system to keep relevant packaging material data for each SKU placed on the market up to date
• Liaise with responsible functions for improvement of internal business processes feeding required packaging material information and data needs to ensure data system is robust
• Liaise with in-scope manufacturing locations to ensure their packaging material waste data system is suitable, adequate, and effective
• Collaborate with communication experts and other relevant functions to fulfill external obligations
• Prepare reports to fulfill reporting obligations for all in-scope jurisdictions and collaborate with local resources for on-time submission
• Support country leaders or other relevant functions during audits
• Be an advocate for more sustainable packaging choices
• Manage external service providers
• Budget management for service providers and other fees
• Seek and drive continuous improvement opportunities
