The lab routinely collaborates with other research groups within the department and worldwide, as well as with the UZGent hospital through the Ghent Auditory Science Platform.

YOUR TASKS

We are presently recruiting a part-time post-doctoral researcher in clinical and market studies in connection to the European Innovation Council Transition project EarDiTech. Building on your background in hearing technologies, your role is to validate our proof-of-concept hearing diagnostics and augmented hearing technologies through clinical trials that bring these technologies to a higher technology readiness level. This includes the preparation, organization and follow-up of medical device trials and making connections to early-adopters. At the same time, you will set up and perform market scoping and user-feedback studies to identify customer needs and market information to inform and help shape our business strategy and cost-of-goods analysis. You are responsible for timely reporting the outcomes of your work towards the EIC project deliverables and the broader community via outreach activities (e.g., public symposia, conference booths, website). You will work together with the scientific and business leads on the project team and maintain connections to the EIC and UGent technology transfer and UZGent and FAGG clinical trial departments. Given the needed outreach to customers and market, some flexibility in your work schedule will be necessary.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • You hold a thesis-based doctorate in the domain of engineering (Information Technology, Acoustical, Biomedical) with a topic related to applied hearing research.
  • You have prior experience in conducting medical device trials and background knowledge of ethics and regulatory procedures.
  • Scientifically, you master the topics hearing-aid signal processing, psychoacoustics and auditory evoked potentials for hearing diagnostics
  • Project management and reporting skills are a must, with prior experience in conducting applied or clinical research projects.
  • Prior experience in working with hearing-impaired patient groups as well as with audiologists/ENT is necessary.
  • You are a natural in communicating your work to different audiences (science, business, regulatory, end-users).
  • Basic programming skills (python, Matlab) are a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral English skills are required, as evidenced by prior peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
