Position Overview:
As a Project Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing project schedules, ensuring timely completion of projects, and optimizing resource allocation. Your role will involve collaborating with various teams, including engineering, procurement, and construction, to ensure the smooth execution of projects while adhering to budget and quality requirements. This position plays a crucial role in planning and organizing project activities, tracking progress, and mitigating potential risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop project plans, schedules, and timelines in collaboration with the project team.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and resource requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies and assess project risks and constraints.
- Identify critical paths, dependencies, and milestones to ensure accurate project sequencing.
- Regularly update and maintain project schedules to reflect progress and changes.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders to allocate resources effectively.
- Monitor resource availability and utilization to optimize project efficiency.
- Collaborate with department managers to ensure appropriate staffing for project activities.
- Manage resource conflicts and bottlenecks to minimize project delays.
- Monitor project progress against planned schedules and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Identify potential delays or issues and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Generate regular reports on project status, milestones achieved, and variances from the plan.
- Communicate project updates to relevant stakeholders, ensuring effective information flow.
- Identify and assess project risks, including technical, operational, and external factors.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Regularly review and update risk registers, ensuring timely risk response and resolution.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and construction, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among team members and stakeholders.
- Coordinate meetings, workshops, and progress review sessions as needed.
- Facilitate decision-making processes and resolve conflicts or issues that arise during project implementation.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a project planner, scheduler, or coordinator.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
- Proficiency in project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with the steel industry or manufacturing sector is an advantage.
