R&D Manager - Senior Flavorist

We are looking for an experienced Food technologist specialized in working with ingredients and creating flavors in the Snacking Industry to join our R&D team in Roeselare.

The Manager will be responsible for creating and developing new flavors for our snacking portfolio and overseeing the research activities in this defined area. The ideal candidate will have a passion for snacking and a deep understanding of the flavor profiles that work best in this space.

What you will do:

  • Lead the development of new flavors/seasonings for our continuously expanding snacking range by delivering on winning flavor profiles, taste, quality, sustainability, cost and convenience
  • Responsible to coordinate, execute and prioritize on continuous improvement initiatives, while delivering on the set goals, project timelines and pro-actively identify and manage project risks.
  • Identify area’s of improvement of the existing portfolio
  • Actively contribute to ideas to fill the future innovation funnel and identify future required capabilities and competencies within the area of Frying and Snacks to support the strategy and portfolio plans to ensure taste excellence
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to leverage their expertise and deliver on the KPI’s
  • Good understanding of Sensory Evaluation processes and lead method development for Sensory testing to a new level
  • Explore industry trends and innovations in flavor development/ Snacking industry to identify market opportunities
  • Ensure food safety and legal requirements are followed within the development projects and work towards our sustainability goals
  • Mentoring team members to deliver on capability building
  • Collaboration with Operations to assure adequate commercialization on our production lines

What we expect from you:

  • Master degree in Food science, Chemistry, or a related field or equally by experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience in flavor development in Food Industry, preferably in Snacking
  • At least 5 years experience in Senior management role within R&D
  • Strong understanding of flavor chemistry and food science
  • Excellent sensory evaluation skills
  • Plus to have Powder functionality experience towards upscaling of projects
  • Fluent in English, Dutch
  • International mindset, strong business acumen, strategic and result orientation, consumer and customer minded, innovative and collaborative. Making things happen.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
