Compensation Director EMEA

Purpose of the Position
  • Partner with Human Resources leaders and senior managers in EMEA region to ensure that the day-to-day operational support of compensation programs is successfully executed
  • Key area of focus will be supporting a Reward for Performance Strategy and Culture and ensuring that the different Businesses and Corporate resources have the right Talent Agility and Leadership pipeline
  • Be an expert in managing compensation items in line with Workday processing, collaboration with HR Shared Services and the transformational HR organization
  • Manage merit and variable compensation planning and administration, and communicate to HR and business leaders
  • The Compensation Director - in support of the VP Total Rewards EMEA - ensures that Compensation programs are designed in EMEA to support the Company’s Strategic Objectives and Business Goals, are market-competitive and are designed to attract, reward and retain high-performing employees. These programs will comply with legal requirements in all countries, be equitable and competitive as well as cost-effective.
Major Responsibilities
  • Support the VP Total Rewards EMEA in strategy design (aligned with Global Total Rewards strategy) in line with the Company’s focus on standardization, simplicity, and harmonization.
  • Assist the VP Total Rewards EMEA with Global / Regional / Local Projects specifically related to Compensation (e.g. Salary Structures, Global Position Structure, STI Redesign, European Employment Contracts & Digitalization, (Sales) Incentives, etc.).
  • Implement the Company’s Compensation Programs in line with the Company’s vision, strategy, and objectives. Support the design, review and update of all regional Compensation Policies.
  • Be the operational lead in the regional Centre of Excellence supporting our customers in a proactive way in case of collective and/or individual requests, whilst ensuring correct application of available Global and Regional policies and processes, via the applicable Workday processes.
  • Consult and coordinate with HR Business Partners and Senior Management to determine which programs and policies should be applied consistently within the Region and when local practices should prevail The HR Business Partners are entitled to a high quality level of customer service, with the required proactivity and follow-up.
  • Drive streamlined key Total Reward Processes like Annual Merit Review, Off-Cycle Salary Adjustments, Job Levelling, Bonus/Incentive programs, International Mobility, etc.
  • Act as Business Support function for Salary Benchmarking requests applying the respective Country Salary Structures as well as external market data providers (WTW, Mercer,...): Analyse HR comp data/advise on local benchmark needs (individual and collective), with respect of internal equity and external market competitiveness.
  • Manage - together with our Regional Fleet colleagues - the regional Company Car Policy taking into account the different specifics and supporting the (local) complexities, working towards a ’green’ sustainable car fleet in line with market evolutions (increase of hybrid and electric cars).
  • Provide C&B Core key data for the Centre of Excellence Total Rewards, and - where needed - for other departments / Business Units / Functions, such as headcount, business sales figures, tax, and social security rates etc.
  • Coordinate the annual bonus processes for the region. This includes the frequently recurring audit of all bonus related data, review of calculations (performed by Corporate C&B), follow-up of the complete process up to the individual communication of the bonus payment to employees and liaison with payroll (instructions to be given to local country payroll(s)).
Skills & Competencies
  • Bachelor’s or Masters’ Degree level education in Human Resources or equivalent through experience
  • Working in a complex multi-cultural organization (US fast-paced multinational), with international exposure, for at least 5 years
  • Experience of 10+ years in the field of Total Rewards (incl. reward strategy and implementation), an HR or Finance/project related position.
  • Having worked in a strong and optimized HR functional structure (experience in three-pillar model HR with interaction between HR Business Partners, Centres of Excellence and transactional Shared Services is preferred)
  • Having worked in a high functioning standard HR Tools facilitated company (active knowledge of Workday and prior HR Transformation experience is a significant plus)
  • Strong understanding of Total Rewards area, able to support (HR) Business Leaders
  • Translate Total Rewards needs into concrete action plans including effective communication and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Proactive, independent, high sense of confidentiality
  • Analytical, results-oriented, relationship building (alliances/business partnering), presentations skills
  • Project coordination and in-depth overall business and organizational knowledge
  • Solid system knowledge (WorkDay) and proficiency in Excel (and preferably PowerPoint as well)
  • Outstanding English language skills (verbal & written) (any other European language is a plus)
  • Highly organized, highly motivated, flexible, pro-active
  • Operates in accordance with Stanley Black & Decker values and business conduct guidelines
