Donkey Republic will start in May 2022 in the greater Antwerp transport region and is looking for bicycle enthusiasts to strengthen our operational team.

Erdem, who grew up in Istanbul, saw how bicycles are the key to more liveable cities, the environment and health." One of the founders of Donkey Republic, he saw in Copenhagen in 2012 how a number of friends from different cities shared bicycles with the location and sent the code of the combination lock via SMS. He thought there should be an easier way. The start was funded with a Kickstarter. Today, Donkey Republic is active in more than 70 European cities with 17,000 bicycles. The goal is still there: more cyclists with fewer bicycles. We are looking for eight (8) employees to support the operation and maintenance of the bicycles. Within this growing team of 8 bicycle enthusiasts; Donkey ’Shepherds’, you will be the Senior Shepherd / Technician.*

A typical day:
You start your day in one of our workshops in Antwerp North (Luchtbal) or Antwerp South (Kiel / Hoboken), where you repair bicycles. You regularly go out with the electric cargo bike, with your tools in it. With the help of our app you will find your way, and perform the necessary tasks. Our bikes weigh 25 to 30 kg.
Duties:

  • Repairing bicycles, mainly in the workshop and on the street;
  • Making new bicycles roadworthy;
  • Carrying out preventive maintenance;
  • Hands-on training of junior shepherds;
  • Make and implement suggestions on how we can improve the process
  • Ordering parts
  • Redistribution of bicycles;

What we expect

  • At least 3 years of experience assembling / repairing bicycles is a MUST.
  • Experience with repairing eBikes is a strong asset
  • Good mindset;
  • A hands-on mentality;
  • You are detail oriented;
  • You are structured;
  • You are result oriented;
  • You are a strong communicator;
  • You are a creative problem solver;
  • You like to work independently, both indoors and outdoors, but also enjoy working together in a team;
  • Thanks to your expertise you radiate natural authority.
  • A first experience as a team leader is a plus.
  • You live in the greater Antwerp region.
  • You have a driving license B
