仕事内容

Would you love to work in an innovative and disruptive environment to help our clients find solutions for their problems? Do you have analytical skills to get to the root of their issues? Are you passionate about networks and technology, and do you possess good communiciation skills?

You might be the person we’re looking for.

Excentis

Excentis is a group of driven engineers and IT’ers who are specialised in access and home networks. We are worldwide considered as experts in cable networks and Wi-Fi technology, and are proud to be the reference lab for certification of just about all the standards for cable networks. For many of these standards we’re the only ones in the world. Our clients are telecom providers and manufacturers of broadband network equipment, like Intel, Cisco, Nokia, Samsung, Telenet or Vodafone. We test their equipment, advise them, train engineers and deliver best-in-class testing and monitoring solutions. Our home base is beautiful Ghent, Belgium. Our company thrives on innovation and atmosphere, the vibe is always (well, just about) energetic and inspiring.

Our work environment

We foster ownership and entre/intrapreneurial spirit in a setting that is truly innovative, positive and inspiring. We communicate in an open, direct and informal way. Teamwork is not an empty promise, we love challenging and helping eachother. It’s quietly encouraged to beat Luc, our CEO, at foosball, and bringing that up months later.
We enjoy learning new things, this world is fast-pace, but we also take deep dives, to become experts in our fields. From our beautiful Ghent office we support clients from all over the planet, reaching millions, billions of end customers.

The job

To raise the ByteBlower team to new heights, we’re looking for an enthusiastic support and integration engineer to support our impressive portfolio of clients, and bring new ideas to the table to make our value and our products stronger.

As a support and integration engineer you’re the key person and connector between the client and the development team. You stay on top of the latest goings on at the client, detect current and future challenges and sketch out features we should have on our ByteBlower.

There are many ways to grow from this, from presales/sales to development, engineering or integration specialist.

You would mainly:

  • Listen to clients, analyse their issues to understand what they really need and look for the bést possible solution, with help from your colleagues and developers
  • Replicate client setups (virtually ánd physically) to analyse and improve
  • Integrate our products in our own lab and the lab of our clients
  • Support our clients in terms of testing, building and integration
  • Work cross-platform, Linux and other environments
  • Write new knowledge base articles and update current ones
  • Offer remote assistance

So, what makes this job all kinds of fun?

You and your colleagues will be building better tools for a better internet. How’s that for a solid mission. You’re in direct contact with the clients and can work on their present and future challenges. The entire cycle, from problem to solution to support. You’ll be at the forefront of where the internet, and connectivity, is going.

Our team is involved early on in client development cycles for feedback and input. This allows us to improve our implementation every time we deliver.

You’ll also be involved in other software and hardware projects within the company for your feedback and suggestions. We love fresh perspectives and ideas. Really.

We’re ideally looking for the right person with:

  • Knowledge of one or more scripting languages (Python, C#, Tcl, …)
  • The gift to explain things clearly, in text, imagery or even video
  • Team playing and problem solving skills, always looking for the better way to do things
  • A strong interest in data communiciations and network technology. Basic knowledge of IP really is a must.
  • A pragmatical approach, the customer is always central
  • A no-nonsense mentality, we’re tackling issues that affect millions. Billions!
  • Proper knowledge of English, Dutch is a bonus but not really nodig
  • A Professional Bachelor in Industrial Sciences, electronics/ICT or equivalent through experience

What do we have to offer you?

If you decide to join our team and our mission, you’ll be given a lot of ownership, autonomy, a broad spectrum of activities, and we always encourage initiative.

You’ll be part of a dynamic and diverse team of real experts, a solid opportunity to expand your knowledge and your experience, based on what your ambitions are and where you’d like to move towards.

Proper work/life balance is important to us. We take 32 days off per year and we have flexible hours. People who choose sustainable commuting always get extra points (Ghent is beautiful and much faster by bike, bus or even on foot).

When you start we’ll make sure you get the necessary training and proper salary with lots of benefits like meal vouchers, hospitalization insurance, retirement plan, a laptop, internet at home, and more.

Ready to shift gears?

We aim to finish recruiting rounds in 3 weeks max. We start with a video call and progressively invite you for 2 more real life conversations. During these conversations, we try to assess what you’re passionate about, what gives you energy, and what your level is.

Send your resume to roxane@pelops.be. If you’d like more information or have some questions in advance, don’t hesitate to ask her. Even a visit to our labs can be arranged. They’re really cool.
