Our client’s legal department is one of the most important in Belgium and is part of one of the largest companies in the country. In this respect, it is our client’s intention and duty to be a source of inspiration and innovation for Belgian society and to contribute to the success of our client’s strategy.

The Contracting & IP division manages our client’s risks relating to contracts with suppliers and other partners. It also manages risks associated with the management of trademarks.

As a legal advisor within the Contracting & IP Pool, your main responsibilities essentially consist of:

Management of the legal risk of agreements drawn up between our client and its suppliers.
The management of the legal risk relating to trademarks.
Specifically, you will be responsible, together with your colleagues, for:
  • Drafting and negotiating different types of agreements with suppliers and other partners. These agreements vary in subject matter and complexity (IT contracts, service agreements, sponsorship agreements, outsourcing agreements). Drafting and reviewing of a wide range of contracts and related documentation;
  • Formulating advice;
  • Participating in projects of our client where legal input is required;
  • Optimizing and keeping model documentation up to date;
  • Follow up on disputes and supervise work of outside counsel;
  • Representing the bank in relevant internal or external working groups;
  • Monitoring and anticipating legislation, case law, doctrine, guidelines and recommendations (including on outsourcing) in the relevant fields of law (law of obligations, special contracts, trademark law, etc.);
  • Transferring knowledge and providing training to internal employees;
  • Providing legal advice and acting proactively in relation to the protection of own brands and advising on the use of third party brands.

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in law with several years of relevant experience; a specialization in IT law or privacy law is an asset;
  • Excellent command of Dutch, French and English both verbally and in writing;
  • Good negotiator focused on win-win solutions, pragmatic and with a flexible attitude;
  • Curious and analytical minded;
  • Customer-oriented and bridge-builder;
  • Team player who can work well with other colleagues and stakeholders.
